Dassie Mae Day

I can hardly believe it! It has been one year since Jay and I went to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to bring Hadassah home to our family. I will never forget that day. She was happy to see us when we were in her room and playing on her floor. But as soon as we took her away from the only place she knew, she let out that infamous wail again. We knew it was going to take some time to get used to each other.

This past year came with many challenges brought on by adoption. Bonding with each other was an uphill battle that I'm glad to say has been conquered. Adding a 4th child to our family was also something new, but oh so good! Hadassah (who has many names...Das, Dassie, Dassie Mae, Melat) has proven to be a spunky, ornery, mimicker, grabby, cuddly, Daddy's girl, happy, huggy, smiley, hitter, back rubber, great sleeper, banana lover, LOUD, dancer, petite, funny kind of girl. In other words, she fits right in.

Happy Dassie Mae Day, sweet girl. Our family is complete because of you.

I can't believe how much she's changed! Her hair is so long! She does make your family complete. I don't even remember what you guys were like before Das!

Adoption Process

*2-16-2012 - HOME
*2-12-2012 - She is in our arms forever!
*2-6-2012 - WE WERE CLEARED BY THE EMBASSY!!!!!!!!!!! WE ARE GOING TO GET OUR DAUGHTER!!!!!!!!!!!
*2-2-2012 - The embassy contacted us to say that they are reviewing our case!! An unexpected surprise!
*2-1-2012 - New pictures of Hadassah. Her hair is so beautiful and she looks super happy.
*1-26-2012 - Submitted to the embassy.
*1-23-2012 - Received a dvd of Hadassah and watched her crawl and hold onto the couch by herself. She's growing and our hearts are aching to be with her.
*1-18-2012 - Hadassah was crawling by 1-11-2012.
*1-16-2012 - Found out Hadassah's birthday is April 10th.
*1-16-2012 - New pictures of Hadassah. She has two top teeth. Had them before 1-11-2012.
*1-11-2012 - One year since we applied with CCI.
*12-23-2011 - We passed court!!!!
*12-21-2011 - Update from Dereje, our power of attorney, stating that we should know in 2 days if we passed court.
*12-14-2011 - Said "goodbye" to Hadassah. The embassy needs to make some changes in this area. It just isn't right.
*12-13-2011 - Court date. We did not pass. We are still waiting on one document.
*12-12-2011 - Met Hadassah. What an incredible experience.

*12-2-11 - We were told that Hadassah is eating baby food. We were also told that she is happy and smiles all of the time.
*11-27-2011 - Anne visited Hadassah and told us some sweet details about our beautiful baby.
*11-24-2011 - And yet another picture of Hadassah. The email from our agency director said, "Happy Thanksgiving Mom" Love it!
*11-20-2011 - More pictures of Hadassah. She now has her 2 bottom teeth and has changed so much.
*11-6-2011 - New pictures of Hadassah from friends who went to visit their son. She has hair now!!
*11-1-2011 - Hadassah weighs 16 lbs 5 oz today. And wears 6 month size clothes.
*10-31-2011 - Booked flights to go and meet our baby girl!!
*10-28-2011 - Booked a room at Grace Guest House for 3 days and 2 nights.
*10-25-2011 - Court date set for December 13th.
*10-12-2011 - Received a video of Hadassah. Wow! She is beautiful and smiles so much.
*10-6-2011 - Spoke with our international doctor and she confirmed that Hadassah is on track for a baby at about 7 months old. But we are told that she is most likely 4 1/2 months old. She'll fit in with our solid-framed family.
*10-1-2011 - Skyped with Hadassah and got it on video.
*9-30-2011 - Our case was submitted to court.
*9-29-2011 - Found out that we lost our first referral, but we were given pictures of another beautiful little girl with the longest eyelashes!
*8-20-2011 - Opened an email to read that we have a possible referral of a beautiful 6 month old little girl
*7-20-2011 - I171H in the mail, notarized, and sent off!
*6-2-2011 - Fingerprint appointment
*5-24-2011 - #3 on the waiting list for a referral
*5-23-2011 - Received letter for fingerprint appointment of June 2nd. (huge timeline praise!)
*5-6-2011 - I-1600a sent off
*5-1-2011 - #5 on the waiting list for a referral
*3-11-2011 - Dossier sent off to Washington (Jay's Birthday)
*3-9-2011 - Received a new home study (notarized this time :))
*3-4-2011 - MOWA stated that they would be making great cut-backs
*3-4-2011 - #9 on the Waiting list for a Referral
*2-25-2011 - Dossier Authenticated by the State of Florida
*2-21-2011 - Home Study approved
*2-5-2011 - Home Study
*1-11-2011 - Applied with CCI
